Photography

The purpose of this assignment was to use multiple images, and composite them into a single image that appears realistic without actually being so. The goal of the assignment was to learn how to use compositing effects and post-processing to create a believable hyper-realistic image. The intended composition of my scene was to have a man standing in a shoe. The cat got added later after i took an interesting image of my cat during the same shooting session. Overall I think the image functions well, with both the man and the cat acting as focal points for the image and drawing the viewer's eye towards the boots. I think i succeeded in drawing the viewer's eye to the focal point of the image by having the background by slightly blurry and keeping the subject as large as it is. The following images are the original images i worked with to create the final product seen above.

The purpose of this assignment was to create a visually appealing image that was also a portrait of a human being. The intended composition of my scene was to both draw the eye to the human face in the top left and also to the painted face on the right. I thought this layout would create a dichotomy between the two and lead to an interesting image. I tried to use the leading lines of the board and rule of thirds to place the points of focus in the proper parts of the image. I believe i succeeded in drawing the viewer's eye to the focal point of the image, and i think my composition turned out satisfying. I used a filter in order to increase the saturation of the image, and used another filter to help blur out the less interesting parts of the image, namely the background. The following is the original image that i used for this project.

These four images constitute the portrait lighting assignment given to me. The assignment was to take and edit four images into black and white, showing off different forms of lighting for portrait photography. Specifically we needed the following images. The first had to use natural light with no other lights. The second was required to have a side light, and we could use a key light if necessary. The third image was meant to be similar to the second, as it required side lighting, but we could use a beneficial fill light to even out the image. The last image was required to be a silhouette. I stuck with the same focus for my 4 images, and the woman in them retains her position as the focal point throughout. The only post-processing techniques i used on these images was cropping and black and white. The following are the 4 original images.

This assignment entailed taking multiple exposures of the same scene, then using HDRI techniques to combine them into a single image that showcases multiple exposures. The goal of this assignment was to teach us about merging photos using HDRI tools, and allow us to experience the entire process which goes into making such an image. my composition was constructed in the way it was in roder to show the vibrant greens of the trees and grass, while mildly contrasting it with the red bush towards the back of the image. The focal point was meant to be this red bush, and it draws the eye to it due to the massive contrast. I combined the three exposures i took of this scene, and used hue and saturation as well as levels and curves to combine them into a vibrant and satisfying image. The following images are the ones i merged together to get this effect.
